I’m Jose Fernandez, also known as campygilmore on Instagram. I’m 35 and currently living in California, where I drive a 2018 Toyota Tacoma Off-Road in Cement Grey.

I started building this truck in 2019, and what began as a hobby quickly turned into a passion. Whether I was on forums researching the next upgrade or bolting on new gear, I spent every spare moment improving my rig.

My hobbies growing up was fishing and camping. My goal was to build a truck that could take me to remote campsites, especially by rivers or creeks, because what’s better than combining camping and fishing?

For those starting their own builds, my top advice is to prioritize sliders, skids, and a full-sized spare. Early on, I was concerned about not having the right protection or spare tire in case something went wrong on the trail, so those were my first upgrades.

When I decided to get serious about the build, I spent countless hours researching and ultimately chose CBI Off-Road for the core components. Six years later, the build is officially complete, and it’s everything I hoped for. It handles off-road terrain like a dream and allows me to explore remote spots while making amazing memories with friends and family.
